The Mane Event, Equine Education and Trade Fair is pleased to announce George Morris, as one of their clinicians at the upcoming October 19 – 21, 2007 expo at Heritage Park, Chilliwack, BC. Morris is being presented by Greenhawk Harness and Equestrian Supplies and Susan Balcom of the Langley Greenhawk location says, “they are absolutely thrilled to be presenting George Morris, a leader in his field, at the Mane Event.”

No one in the world has coached more Olympic riders and international stars than George H. Morris, the legendary horseman who’s been the US show jumping team’s chef d’equipe since 2005. For almost 50 years, Morris has trained riders ranging from talented teenagers to Olympic medalists, as well as conducting a never-ending series of clinics around the world, writing three influential books about riding and training, “Hunter Seat Equitation”, “George H. Morris Teaches Beginners to Ride”, and “The American Jumping Style” as well as the monthly “Between Rounds” columns for The Chronicle of the Horse. He has also branched out into the world of video with The Science of Riding, which describes his approach to riding and teaching.

Morris became an equestrian star at age 14 by winning the nation’s two most prestigious equitation championships in the same year, the AHSA Medal Final and the ASPCA Maclay Final. He was a member of the Gold Medal-winning United States Equestrian Team at the 1959 Pan American Games and the Silver Medal-winning US Team at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. He then turned his attention to teaching and training, although he returned to international competition in the late 1980s, winning the world’s richest grand prix.

The unbreakable doctrines of Morris’ philosophy are rigid self-discipline, doing things “the right way”, and proper horsemanship. He always endeavors to instill these ideals in his students and in their students.

The Mane Event is pleased to offer the opportunity to ride with this legend; details will be released shortly on this application process. Further information on the Mane Event, Equine Education and Trade Fair is available at www.maneeventexpo.com or telephone (250) 578-7518.

Unfortunately, this is not about horses but I am trying to locate relatives of Sheila J. Morris Popovich. Her brother was George Morris. Their parents were Earle and Maebel Morris. Sheila was married to John Popovich and they lived in Kimberley. Her brother, George, lived in Trail.
Thank you for your response; I thought maybe you might be George’s son……
