Trying to achieve a higher search engine rank with your website?

Heres a tip - Search engines love relevant content. This means filling your website up as much as reasonably possible with words, links, news and other items that are directly related to your ranch or business — and update your website often!

Always think of what someone could use as search criteria when looking for something you feature on your website. If you are listing horses on your site, word your horse write ups so that they contain words that someone might use to find that particular kind of horse using a search engine.

One of the most important pages on your site is your home page. You should use your homepage as an advertising tool for your ranch or business, and not as a place to talk about your friends and family. Again, fill your homepage up with content that is relevant to what you think people will be searching for when looking for a ranch or business like your own. If you really want to show off your friends and family, put them on a separate page such as one of our self-updating photo galleries or an About Us page.

For example:

If you are a purple horse breeder and when you are updating your home page you fill it with the latest news of your kids and your pets, you can’t expect the search engines to be fully convinced that you really are a serious breeder of purple horses. But if you mention purple horses and purple horse news and purple horse events and purple horse stories, on your home page and throughout your website, soon they are going to think you are truly a genuine purple horse site.

It is probably quite obvious to all of us that mentioning quarter horse or cutting horse a few times is still going to leave us with lots of competition for high search engine ranking. This is due to the sheer number of websites that exist out there with similar ideas in mind. But if you have purple quarter horses or say perhaps homozygous paint cutting horses you increase your chances of working yourself up to a useful position. But it certainly won’t happen if you never once mention this fact on your site.

Discover what is somewhat special or unique about your program and promote that. And don’t get carried away - repeating the words over and over again doesn’t work either.
