Miniature Horse travels in pet kennel

U.S. customs officials who opened a dog kennel inside an airplane that landed in Atlanta last week were surprised to find a hunched-over miniature horse looking up at them.

The incident could land the airline and the passenger transporting the horse into trouble, as the U.S. Department of Agriculture says that transporting the horse in a kennel amounts to animal cruelty, Customs and Border Protection spokesman Mike Balero said Friday. Continue Reading »

30th Annual Shamrock Quarter Horse Breeders Sale

The 30th Annual Shamrock Quarter Horse Breeders Sale was held Monday, August 6, 2007. The day started with a half inch of rain and by sale time the sun was shining brightly on the sale attendees.

STR Squeak Toy Lena, an unstarted 2-year-old daughter of Peppys Squeak Toy out of a Perry San Dry Doc 17 mare, led off the sale, going to Rob Krieger of Lannigan, SK for $2000. Sleeping Turkey Ranch, Lloyd and Jan Turner, Shamrock consigned this filly.

This years sale was once again, held at the Heartland Livestock Yards, Brandon, Manitoba. The auctioneers were Donnie Peacock, Maple Creek, SK as well as Mike Fleury, Saskatoon, SK. Glen Gabel, Regina, SK as well as Greg Frick, Whitewood, SK read pedigrees.

Buyers came from Canada’s coast to coast including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec as well as Nova Scotia. We had a few U.S. buyers from North Dakota as well as Pennsylvania. Continue Reading »

Percheron Horses are Dutch and Dasiy owned by Bob and Susan McNutt of Moose Jaw, Sk

The horses spent most of the 3 weeks we had of horseflies and 35 + weather this summer in that dugout, they would lift their noses out to breath and blow water and put them back under.  It was that hot!
