We are continually improving our Northernhorse.com Classifieds to make them a better experience for all of you. This past week has been particularly exciting with a few changes that will change your life… ok well maybe not quite THAT exciting, but they are pretty darn cool.

Here is an overview of what we changed and added:

  1. A better Login system.
  2. Search page improvements to save you time.
  3. New listing summary on the home page.

A Better Login System:
The old login system would log you out after about an hour of inactivity, and sometimes, if the site was very busy it would log out out sooner than that. You now have the option to log in permanently, and if you choose not to do that the new system will be more reliable than the old one with keeping you logged in for as long as you are on the site. Look for the new ‘keep me logged in’ checkbox on the login page of the classifieds.

Search Page Improvements to Save You Time:
When performing a search for a horse via our Horse Search page, some of you were performing searches that came up with no results. To help you out, we have changed the search page to show you your search options in a more user-friendly way. The breed and the province/state selection box’s now only show options for which there are matching horses in the Classifieds. And the Ranches box has been changed from a box in which you type a Ranch name to a selection box with all of the current ranches listed.

New Listing Summary on the Homepage:
To help you to know when and where new ads are appearing on the Classifieds, we have posted a new ad summary to the homepage. The summary can be seen in the top left area of the home page, and will tell you how many ads are new in the past 7 days, as well as which section of the Classifieds you can find those new ads in. Now you can see easily when there are new ads posted to the Tack section (for example) by looking at the summary. You can even change the time period from 7 days to 3 days, or even 1 day if you are a frequent visitor.
