I had the incredible experience of going out west with Bob & Doreen Henderson last weekend to watch and photograph wild horses. If you love horses it is a thrill like no other. Many of my photos are a blur because of my excitement and the vibration from my pounding heart. We were blessed with the rare opportunity to see a few herds all in one day. From snorting stallions to shy babies it was a day I will never forget. We even got to witness a bachelor stallion trying to lure away a mate from a herd stallion. Well, we know we are getting into the short, cold days of winter when we note that The Horse Breeders and Owners Conference is approaching. We seem to have some of our coldest weather during that conference. But it certainly doesn’t deter us from going. It is warm in the seminars – sometimes warm enough to make it possible to have a wee nap even. And there is lots of information to glean and an opportunity for many in the horse world to get together for a winter visit. There is information in the “events calendar” for the Conference. January 11 – 13, 2008.

The events calendar is pretty bare right now. Might be a good time to post your events for 2008. If you already know the date of your sale or event, get it in there. It is never too early.

Came across this bit of news today. Sometimes I wonder why if we humans are so damned smart that we are so damned stupid about realizing that others (human and otherwise) feel pain. And why some people get enjoyment from watching others’ suffering. Warning: photos of horses fighting. View news item
