February 1st, 2008 Lynn

Put me in the draw for Feb. please.
I look at this site everyday, at least once.
We have a couple of horses for sale on it and I am always keeping my eye open for “just the right one”. With all this cold weather I’m looking more than usual. lol
I love your site, I have a peek every day. My favorite place to ride is anywhere, as long as I get to ride!
My favorite place to ride near home is in the neighbors wheat field behind the house, when it’s nothing but stubble. The field rolls up and down and winds along a small river. It’s a lot of fun to just to follow a line in the stubble in run up and down the hills and see what we flush out!
My favorite holiday ride was in the Dominican Republic, a whole day of green hills and palm trees, cane fields, tiny villages, amazing scenery, and beaches to run on!
My favorite place to ride in on Weir’s Beach, Vancouver Island or The Sheep River area in Alberta.
Please enter me for the draw.
Although I’ve not yet been there… one day I will ride along in the water of a white sandy tropical beach.
Until then, as odd as it may seem, nothing beats a sunny warm SK winter day… riding across a snow filled field with only the sound of snow crystals and the breath of your horse.
A weekend to the mane event would indeed be a treat.
My favourite place to ride is the Bragg Creek area of Kananaskis. Great trails, good footing, hills, water …..
And if you ever have the chance, try riding in the New Forest, Hampshire, England. Wonderful!
One of my favorite places to ride is Blue Rock area west of Turner Valley. Remember driving through from Blue Rock to Bragg Creek with a vehicle. many years ago. Brings back many memories.
Have a picture of my Mom,Dad and Granddad taken at the top of Rickerts pass in 1934.
Love to ride any where, but that’s a fave
Shirley
My favorite place to ride…..
about a mile west of me is a tree line. A treeline? Yup, a treeline! If you ride on the east side of the trees and pay attention, you can see where the wagon wheels passed on that very ground so many years ago. It used to be the main road from southern Saskatchewan up to Lloydminster and for about 2 and a half miles it can be ridden, uninterrupted by fence or farm,(may have to duck or jump the occasional tree) giving a person a chance to think back…imagine what life was like when all people had were horses for transportation.
That old road gives me a feeling of well being, like things here in our neck of the woods have come full circle! That’s my favorite place to ride around here.
As for a dream ride…one day I would like to take a trip to Ireland and spend a day or two(who said week?hehe) riding along the beautiful cliffs up on the moors on a sturdy and surefooted Irish Tinker!! I just have to conquer my fear of crossing the pond first!! LOL! =0) Darcie
I have really been enjoying riding down along the Highwood River just east of Okotoks. See a bit of wildlife and in the summer can get a refreshing dip in on a nice day.
Favorite place to ride is just by our place where the railway removed the ties & rails, very private, quiet, yet the gravel road is along side, lots of wildlife mainly deer, moose & coyotes.
Please enter me in the February draw.
Our favorite place to ride is in the Blue Rock area west of Turner Valley and the Little Elbow area west of Bragg Creek. Both areas are very beautiful, great scenery and always lots of wildlife.
My favorite place to ride is behind Rocky Pines in the Nicola Valley, just outside of Merritt BC. There is one spot that we called the water tunnel and that is my all time favorite place to ride (great practice for the water jumps). It has changed over the years but everytime I go home I take my old TB out and we go for a ride. But in Alberta I love the Yaha Tinda and hopefully I will get to bring my horses out there a few times this summer.
My favorite place to ride is on the recreational property (surrounded by crown land) my in-laws own.
We enjoy riding anywhere, anytime! Although….. We have a favorite secret place but if I revealed it it wouldn’t be a secret. I will tell you its out west somewhere along the Rocky Mountains! We try to take a couple young ones, the only problem is we don’t get to go as often as liked, imagine that!:)?
My favorite place to ride is in the arena. I love to learn new things from my horses and teach them a few things along the way.
My favourite place to ride is the Yukon. My favourite thing is to do is saddle up and go with my friend Fran into the wilderness and not see another human being for 2 - 3 days. The stillness, the sense of awe, the mountains… the best!
I love riding in the Big Muddy in southern Saskatchewan. Following the old trails of Sitting Bull and checking out the Sam Kelly outlaw caves is like going back a century.
My favorite place to ride is anywhere, anytime - just as long as I’m on top of that horse it doesn’t matter where I am. Because I am throughly enjoying the scenery and the great company!
My favorite place to ride is at home with my kids-watching their confidence grow with their horses is truly a delight!
Riding winter Gymkhana with Parkland Riding Club @ Neitak
My favourite place to ride is out of the Blue Rock stagging area. We go at least once a year for a week or two at a time. It’s a great place to trailer out, set up camp and re-unit with your horse and the great outdoors. The trails vary from 2 hours to 10+ hours, so there is something for everyone. We pack a lunch and anything else we’ll need for the day that morning, saddle up and take to the trail for the remainder of the day. The horses do great on the challenging trails and we love seeing the new and beautiful mountain backgrounds, you can’t experience them enough.
Once back at camp the horses get a rub down, a bath and super for a hard days work, and you get to kick back by the camp fire and enjoy the piece and quite of the night. If you have never been, you truly have to go.
Riding in the mountains in the summer time
please enter me in your draw. at62 i have rode many places that are great
My favorite place to ride is out in the mountains…but I’m just as happy to ride in the fields around home.
We love to go trail riding in the mountains, the Ya Ha Tinda or Little Elbow - it’s nice and relaxing and the scenery is beautiful!!!!!!
Favorite place to ride - outside on a sunny, warm day with a gentle breeze - spring and fall is best.
My favorite place to ride is in the show ring! Watching my daughter in the ring is a favorite pasttime too!
I enjoy riding in the Black Foot Grazing Range where I can see the buffalo and the elk or even the odd bear on the other side of the fence. I never seem to have time anymore to just go and ride, there always has to be a purpose.
My dream is to just find the time to go and ride anywhere, even in the back yard.
I love to ride in the open grasslands west of 100 Mile House B.C.
It is a place where you can see forever. The mighty Fraser River winds below and the wonderful smell of sage drifts all around you. The only noise is the occasional bird. Occasionally you may be fortunate enough to glimpse the feral horses that roam the valleys. It is without question my favourite place on earth. jane
Right across from my driveway, I can ride up to the top of Antler Hill….from there I can see Red Deer, Spruceview, Bowden, Penhold, and my favorite, the Rockies from Jasper to Montana…..it is breathtaking, and makes me humble everytime I sit on horseback and ponder it. Deb.
My favorite place to ride is in the mountains. I like going there with my special someone on a weekend and go camping and spend quality time with each other.
We have two kids and this is out time that we can have for each other and enjoy the outdoors and our horses.
Even in the winter we do this granted we take heating equipment with us but this time is very special to us as a couple. It helps us bring our bond of love and affection for each other closer with every visit we do to the mountains.
I would never trade these times we spend together with our horses and the love of the country for anything in the world. This is our time to be us.
Please enter me in the draw for February. Thanks.
My favorite place to ride is in our family pasture that is hills and ravines. It leads into the river hills. So beautiful.
I love to ride what we affectionately call Waugh’s trail south of the Open Air Kitchen. It is exceptionally pretty in the fall!
Please enter me in the draw, a trip to the Mane Event would be a nice break from the frigid weather we are having.
My Favourite place to ride is in the wide open fields and train my horse. Nothing can really go wrong Im free of my homework , school , people. My ride is what takes me away from all of my problems in the world.
I love trail riding at the West Block in Cypress Hills, Sk. We go every year for a week long girls trip. It’s nice to just unwind and relax.
My favorite place to ride my horse is on trails in the wonderful mountains where I live. So peaceful, quiet and relaxes me so I can become closer to my horse and forget about all my troubles.
Please enter me into the draw! Thanks!!
Thank you for entering me in the contest for the Mane Event!
Anytime I am on one of my horses, is the best; but my favorite place to ride would have to be at Rattlesnake Point at Kalamalka Lake at Vernon, BC. It’s a great place to ride to the lake and swim with your horse!
Please enter me in the Feb draw.
My favorite place to ride is out around our quarter section. There are open field areas as well as wooded trails. I love heading out alone with my four dogs. It is so very peaceful and makes you feel close to those that have passed on but are forever watchful.
My favorite place to ride is somewhere that I can ride for hours and never hit a fence. Fields, bush, rivers, creeks, rocks, sand, anywhere as long as I can go for miles. The Sand Hills in Fort Assiniboine, the mountains by Sundre, Manitou Lake in Saskatchewan, even the Blackfoot Grazing Reserve.
I agree with the folks who said the Blue Rock area, but my favorite ride was the Great Divide Ride which my husband and I took with Anchor D Outfitters 12 years ago, from Etheridge to Cat Creek campgrounds up and over the Great Divide. Imagine 7 days of spectacular scenery, great campfire cooking, great companions, and good weather. It was culture shock when we finally reached the highway on te last day!
The best place to ride is the West Side of the Prince Albert National Park, SK. You get a chance to ride among wild free ranging Bison, the way it was in days gone by.
After surfing the internet for a “different” place to ride, we pulled our horses into Entrance Ranch. Entrance Ranch was located in the Canadian Rocky foothills near Hinton, Alberta. The scenery and mountain views were spectacular. There was rivers, trees, mountains and trails galore! It was a very memorable weekend. And what were the odds that some friends down the road booked the same place that weekend to ride!
I love to ride along the fields out back of my place…they go for miles with little cooleys and gulleys to explore!
It never really matters where I’m riding, just as long as I’m on a good horse. Every chance I get to ride is a pleasure.
Please enter me in your draw, and thanks for a great website.
I love to ride no matter where it is, just the chance to get out and enjoy the horses and on a good day the company.
Best place is out in the pasture , chasing cows.
I love to go riding up in the mountains. Its so peaceful up there.
One of my favorite places to ride is in Silver creek. There are wonderful trails and lots of variety with steep grades, flat trails and water. I also like going there for the make a wish trail ride.
Please enter me in the draw, I cant wait for the mane event this year!!!!
My favorite place to ride is in my back yard (only because my horse is too spooky to take on the trails) if I could I would be riding out in the field not too far away from us, just us and the breeze!!
I enjoy the Ya HA TINDA lots .but an afternoon ride in the pasture is most enjoyable
Right now, I don’t presently own a horse, but when I did, it didn’t matter where I rode, it was all wonderful. I can’t wait to get back in the saddle.
My favorite place to ride is anywhere my mare and I can go weather its the arena chasing cans or the grain field across from the stable. Its our time to relax when I am up on my mare riding and to get away from our busy work day and just go out for a ride no matter what the weather is doing.
Please enter me in you draw as I would love to go to the main event this year as I didn’t get time to go last year because of moving so would love to go this year.
My favorite place to ride is up in the Hand Hills with my husband and daughters, 6 years and 4 years, checking our cows. We make a weekend trip of it and camp with our horses. It is a wonderful place and you can see for miles and miles!
My favorite place to ride is just behind where our horses are kept. There are literally hundreds of trails each one suiting a riders taste from easy trails to ones that are challanging to both horse and rider as a team.
ps
I love this site so much…. I am on it at least twice a day if not more. I find it one of the most valuable sources of breeders/trainers and horse for sale going. Thanks so much.
Favorite place - would have to be anywhere… I am just happy to get to ride with two small kids
Please enter me in the draw
My favorite place to ride is in the beautiful mountains of Alberta. I’ve ridden in the Ya Ha Tinda (got a tour of the ranch too!), Kootenay Plains and in Kananaskis Country. During our Kananaskis trip we went traveling far and we would usually come home in the pitch black evening. My sister’s mare had been there years before so she knew exactly where we were and took us home safely.
Every spring we head out to the mountains for a week long vacation with our horses and I am looking forward to our next spring trip!
My favorite place to ride is the Cypress Hills in Southwestern Saskatchewan. The scenery is breath taking and the terrain challenging.
My favorite place to ride was a place I used to ride with my firneds when we were kids. Not far from my house was a bunch if fields that were divided by tree lines, old wagon roads, fence lines, and bushes; It reminded me of the old west, we called it “Shanky Town”. All my friends and I would hop on our horses bareback almost everyday and sneak back to Shanky Town in the fields to play cowboys & indians or cops & robbers. We did this for many years until slowly everyone sold off their horses & began their teenage lives. Soon there was just me left with my loyal quarter horse “Ceaser”. We continued to ride out and about, but it wasn;t quite the same. I never did go back to Shanky Town, but often think about it to this day. We kept Ceasar until he passed away when I was 16. During those times of riding and adventure I also raced Ceasar in local rodeos in the open 1/2 mile & ladies half mile, we rarely lost a race. I will never forget thsoe adventiures we had playing cowboys & indians/cops & robbers…someday I will go back. Although the landscape may have changed in time…the memories are still there.
I have to say,my favorite place to ride truly is anywhere my husband is beside me.please enter my name in your draw.have a great day!
my favorite place to ride is anyplace quiet.
My favorite place to ride would be back home in Australia. I have friends that did weekend trail rides for for the city slickers and we’d take them up the Condamine gourge. This is a river running down through mountains. It was so much fun to help people learn to ride and show them how great horses are. We would ride all day and then have a camp oven roast supper. I got some really great memories from those trips. And got to ride some excellent horses.
Other then that as long as I’m on a horse and headed anywhere I am happy.
My favorite place to ride is anywhere outdoors when the weather is gorgeous, I’m with friends & I can take in all the wonders of nature (sights, smells, sounds…) Although, I love to ride anywhere, anytime, any place - that would be my favorite of all!
My favorite place to ride is in my mom and dad’s north pasture. It has a lot of trees, trails, steep hills, soft rolling hills, lots of wild life, and cows. When I was a kid I had many horses to ride. I would make at least two trips a day through that pasture to check the cows. Now, I have my own kids and last summer I took them for the first time to my favorite pasture. We loped up hills, explored the trails through the trees and chased up a few deer. They loved it!! That pasture seems to make all your worries disappear for a few hours.
my favourite place to ride my horse is on any trail. just me and my horse with the sun shining on our backs the birds chirping and that feeling of everything just being ok in the world. that feeling you can only get while in the back of a horse riding. I usually ride along the river in salmon valley near where my horses are kept and that peaceful feeling is what makes it worth owning a horse and now my 2 boys get to experience it with me.
dawn Dreher
Prince george BC canada
I love to ride my best mare anywhere with good people, learning, laughing, and loving every second there is in the saddle. Sunshine and bug- free warmth would be my second favorite place, anywhere in Alberta in September/October.
My favorite place to ride is hard to say.I have rode in the rockies ,in the cypress hills ,been on a wagontrian across the prairies, covered many miles in northwestern alberta were I live . Taking lessons is wonderful , riding a horse any where is all was a great place to be .
My favorite place to ride my horse is in my out door riding arena. Itis big enough and secure enough for me. I enjoy the quiet and closness to my home. Thanks for the opportunity.
i just like to get on and ride but if i had to pick a favorite it would be to ride over to the grand kids place on the mountain
My Favorite place to ride is anywhere and whenever I can! I love to ride out to check cows, ride in my practice ring or at riding clinics as well as cow horse clinics, or shows. Riding is just plain fun!
I was hoping that i could be entered into the draw. Thanks, have a great winter!
I have some friends who live in Lytton, BC who own some Peruvian Pasos. The trails are beautiful and the Horses were spectacular. I purchased my own horse because of this marvellous experience. I’ve learned about training and maintenance of these beauties and even bought a pair of cowboy boots!! One ride changed my life!!
Here There and Everywhere!!!
I would like to enter the draw. This is my first time to this site. It seems interesting! I love any trails, and even just riding around in my little riding area.
My favorite place to ride is at my aunt and uncle’s place in Northern Saskatchewan. There are alot of trails throughout the trees and down by the Beaver River. It is very peaceful and beautiful through there and is a nice change from riding down the ditches by where I live.
My favorite place to ride is what was the D Ranch. One of my first trail rides in Alberta was courtesy of friends who had permission to ride on this ranch. It was a fabulous fall day, the fall flowers were in bloom, the sun was hot, the horses and company were cool and it was a died and gone to heaven experience. No one who loves horses and the hills, could have asked for a better day or experience.
Please enter me in the draw. I don’t have a favorite place to ride, but a bad day at the barn is still better than a good day at work!!
My favorite place to ride is behind a hundred head of cattle. Our horses enjoy it as much as we do! A weekend pass to the Mane Event would be a nice break from calving!
hey my favorite place to ride would be along the ocean side
Please enter me in the draw.
My favorite place to ride is the Wainwright Army Base. The variety of terrain gives a wide range of experience to the horse and rider. There are lots of cattle and wildlife. My family and I truly enjoy it.
Hi Lynn, my favourite place to ride when my old horse was alive was on the Bow River in Banff. Yes, I said on the river. A crisp winter night, a full moon and a path made by horse drawn sleighs on the frozen Bow River set the stage for a lovely canter on our real life winter “fantasy” ride with good footing, beautiful scenery and all to ourselves. It was magical!
Anywhere it is green, warm & beautiful (an no mosquitos)
My favorite place to ride is at home in the hay field. I can run, walk, train and nobody can say anything about it. It gets my horse outside, rather than going around in circles in an arena. I love it and I think my horses love it too.
Hi,
I would like to enter the free February draw for a pass to the Mane Event.
My favorite place to ride is in the Yukon. When I used to live there you could ride for miles and miles on many different trails. The countryside is so beautiful. On every trail you could see different scenery and terrain. And all of this right from your back yard, you didn’t even have to trailer a horse to get to the wilds!
But really isn’t anywhere there is a horse a great place to ride?
Donna
My favourite place to ride would be in the wide open fields or in a different country such as England the scenery is great and whenever I am on a horse alll of my problems seem to go away.
I’m not much for just riding down the road in the ditch on a broke horse so I like to take new colts through the hills and valleys and springs on our ranch. It gives my horses and i a chance to get out of the daily routine of riding pens at the feedlot allowing their minds and feet to free up. There are always a few surprises which keep things even more interesting!
