The news of the 100 neglected horses touched a nerve. Reading the response from Debbie (March 17) prompted us to consider the idea of partnering up with someone for the care of 1 of these horses. We have the facilities (we presently have 3 Quarter Horses), Susan is a Vet.Tech., and we are both retired so have plenty of time, but are on a fixed budget.
God bless the volunteers and the efforts that are being made for these abused and neglected animals.

Thankyou does not seem to be enough for the saints involved in this rescue of these innocent wonderful creatures! My God, why this owner did not come forward in the way you have, I just cannot comprehend. So many people would have helped him too, if only a cry for help would have surfaced from this terrible, terrible person. What was up with him anyway. I would like to know what it was that he did not see and why he did not act in finding even homes for these beautiful horses. Can someone out there please try to help me understand the reason if there could possibly be any that someone just turned a blind eye to the suffering of all the animals he owned. There sure needs to be a change in the law when it comes to this type of blatent abuse. I would like to adopt one of these horses if there was a place that it could be kept and cared for. I mean I would be more than willing to own and take care of all expenses if someone could do the caring and housing, as I live in the City and do not have any real experience with horses other than loving them! Other than the adoption process, where can I donate some money to help with the care for them? I have loved horses since the day I can remember . They cannot talk, they are just like young babies, they trust our voice and heart to do the right thing. My plea is to every animal owner, be it a dog, cat, bird or other please step forward ,if it is just a small amount and give to these creations of beauty and majesty and bond together so that we can make a difference in what I like to think is a piece of heaven on earth, Gods' creations!

I a m really glad that you are taking care of the horses. It sounds like they really need some help. It sounds really bad. I am going to give you as much money as I can raise to help the horses. I am only 7 years old that is why I said I will raise as much money as I can for the horses. I just went to horse camp and I think there is a big difference between your horses and the camps horses. I hope you get enough people to help the horses and that they will get better soon.

How can I donate money?

I agree with you. For example when people draw on public resources when they are rescued when skiing out of bounds and get into trouble they are made to pay out of pocket for the costs incurred. The tab for the rescue of these horses should ABSOLUTELY be charged to the negligent abusers along with HUGE fines that SHOULD be laid.
I am also APALLED at the SPCA in that they do not take a proactive role in monitoring a situation after the initial complaint- this one in 2005! So they get a complaint, investigate, charges might be laid, then walk away like the slate is cleared on the abusers and there is never any follow up with how they are adhering to the changes that are requested in the care of the animals? What good ARE they then? The laws need to give them more clout and they need to DO the job of protecting animals. They failed these horses and the other animals miserably.

Good day all and what wonderful people you are to save those horses, my question is why is no one going after the idiots who starved them, can they not be forced to pay for the rescue, they obviously have land to hold a 100 horses, so can they not be charged monitarily as well as cruelty to animals?

Stupid jerks they should be starved and left out in the cold to see how it feels.
Just one girls opinion.

Thanks all for you big hearts
