Starving Horses in Rocky Mountain House

I suppose this is the season where poorly cared for horses become the most apparent but I still don’t get it. Why wouldn’t you just sell some or all of them? Before they are in such poor condition or dead? Also doesn’t anyone driving by notice them? I’m sorry but even if you were my best friend I would be reporting you if you insisted on letting your horses starve to death. I get that some horses may be thinner and still well cared for – my old gelding George is 26 now and not as glossy as he used to be and he gets absolutely neurotic if I lock him up with a round bale and high calorie snacks instead of letting him run with the herd on pasture but… The Calgary Herald has this story:

Eight starving horses have been rescued outside Rocky Mountain House, the second rescue of its kind this month.

Volunteers with Alberta Animal Rescue Crew (AARC) were out patrolling the area west of Red Deer for abandoned small animals when they came across a field and noticed movement. more info

I too used to complain about starving horses to the SPCA but it seems to fall on deaf ears & nothing is ever done about it. What are they BLIND or something. It is supposed to be against the law in BC to not provide SHELTER FOOD & WATER. I see horses in this valley with no shelter skin & bones & ready to foal. It causes me great distress when I see this.
