Nurse Mare Needed Immediately (Found Mare)
We at LNThorses would like to say a special thank you to all who replied, all calls of encouragement, information and people willing to help have been overwhelming and very much appreciated.
We want to give a special thank you to Rocking G Ranch of Redwater for helping us with Striker the smallest twin, and for their staff, friends and family who have had sleepless nights feeding our twin. Also want to send out another heart felt thank you to April and Brian Romeo of Whoa & Go Quarter Horses, for allowing us to bring their mare Northwind Judey (she is for sale) to the Rocking G Ranch facility to become a nurse mare for our lil Striker.
Words can not express the gratitude I feel for all those involved and helping us ensure this colt as a long and successful life!

I was told about a “cooler mommy” that may work well for the lady in need of a surrogate mama for her twin foal. Essentially you use an insulated beverage cooler with a spout and equip the spout with a nursing nipple. Place milk from mama or foal- lac, etc. in the cooler and let the baby nurse as needed. I haven’t tried it, but I’ve heard it works wonders. It keeps the milk at a good temp. and keeps flies out. Just hang the cooler on a fence or somewhere handy for baby to nurse from. Once the foal figures out where to get it’s milk from, it should take to it’s new mama just fine.

Here’s a link to the above mentioned suggestion. There’s pics on the site so you can see what the “cooler mama” looks like.
I was lucky enough to purchase three fillies from April and Brian Romeo.March 2008. One of the little ones Honey Girl aka
WG SILENT DANCERwhich is Judey 2007 foal.I’m very happy to know this mare was compassionate and willing to take on this little twin. These are horses with solid minds ,easily trained and no vices.
Thank-you
