Looking for a unique marketing opportunity for your foals and yearlings?   The Alberta 50/50 Horse Association offers just that.  The association’s purpose is to promote quality light horses that ride well, have the capability to work and will look good when engaged in these activities. As well as to create an incentive to develop and train all horses in a humane manner, protecting at all times their physical and mental potential.

Members will nominate and sell their registered weanlings or yearlings with fifty (50) percent of the selling price going to the breeder of record (as determined by the pertinent breed association definition); forty (40) percent of the selling price going to the futurity purse; five (5) percent of the selling price going to a Breeders’ Award Program; and five (5) percent of the selling price going to operating/administrative expenses.

Horses sold as weanlings or yearlings, will return in the fall of their two-year-old year to compete in an event that consists of a performance halter class, rail class and a pattern class that incorporates reining and trail maneuvers.  The purse will be divided up to 10 places and is open to amateur, youth and open competitors.

These horses will also be eligible to compete after their 2 year old year in the Alberta 50/50 Maturity.
