Striker
Here is another story in our Horses we have loved series. Lana Bollers writes: The most memorial horse I can honestly say was the twin, Striker we lost. Striker was born on March 26, 2008 shortly before 4pm. I obtained a call around 4:10 with my daughter saying, “MOM! Mischief had two babies!!” I was in shock, immediately calling my husband and our vet.
We thought everything was going great until day three we noticed that the mare was starting to reject Striker. We had our neighbour’s come to help us and they took Striker home with them. They woke up with him every 2 hours, feeding and loving on him. A few days later, Striker went down hill, we learned he had meningitis, everyone worked so hard to save his life, and with all the love from everyone he did pull through.
We picked him up April 19, 2008 where we continued his care and love… he started to gain weight rapidly, and grow… We called the vet out as his little legs seemed to be giving out on him. Dr. Lana Delany came out and x-rayed his legs, he was crushing the bones in his joints, I was devasted…
Striker truly was an Angel, he brought so many people together. We had help from several vets at no or little cost, the vets were from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Kentucky. We had good neighbours that helped.. Before he came I was starting to feel there was no real love for horses by anyone everyone was in it for the money, and who cares how many bridges they have to burn to make the almighty dollar… well Striker taught me that just isn’t so… He taught me that there are wonderful people out there, with huge hearts, willing to give of themselves.
Although his life was short he was sent to me to guide me and show me love. Once his job was done, god needed him back to help others, Striker was laid to rest the afternoon of Friday May 9th, 2008. He will always be remembered as not only an Angel but as a medical miracle.

Oh Lana – Stiker will never be forgotten he had a place in your families heart. I sure hope he is running with Sorry and the others
Thanks Amanda,
I bet there are a few good one’s up there watching these lil babes rip up the green pastures.
Striker touched the hearts of millions, from Canada, USA and Ireland he touched so many. Even people that were or are not “horsey” people he managed to sneak his way into their hearts.
Losing the special one’s really is tough, but they taught us so much and gave even more!
I’m sorry for your loss.
