Another Scam?

One of our clients emailed us about this scam a few days ago. You might also want to warn breeders and sellers of horses that there may be a new scam out there. I was contacted a few weeks ago from someone in Mexico looking to purchase horses in Canada. They kept changing the dates on me to come and view horses due to them “missing their flight” Finally we had made arrangements for them to come and view them on Sunday morning. Friday night I recieved a call from a Canadian customs agent. His story that he got from them is that I was supposed to go and pick them up from Edmonton Saturday morning . No such arrangements had been made. They also had cheques already made out for certain amounts, from an uncle of theirs. The Customs officer said he seen many different ways used to get into Canada but this was a new one. They never did show up, and I never heard from them again. I am guessing they were sent back to Mexico. Just a warning that I have never heard of a scam like this and they were using me and my buisness to smuggle themselves into the country. they made sure they had all of my information to give the customs officer, including the e-mails sent back and forth. If I had agreed to go and pick them up they probably would have gotten away with it. Just a warning.
