IFAW Award to WHOAS

I am happy tonight for Bob & Doreen Henderson on their being awarded the Outstanding Personal Commitment Award for their incredible dedication, work and passion for the welfare of Alberta’s wild horses.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare conducted a nation wide search for individuals dedicated to doing amazing things for animals. Each year worthy individuals are selected to receive an Outstanding Commitment Award. The Hendersons have been rightly named a 2008 “Animal Action Hero of the Year“.

I have had the privilege of travelling the back roads with Bob & Doreen and have seen first hand the love they have for the wild horses. Just getting to experience Bob’s sixth sense and Doreen’s passion makes it a trip to remember. It really is thrilling to see the wary horses turn into shadowy ghosts as they run along the edge of the forest.

Olivier Bonnett, Country Director, IFAW Canada will be presenting Bob & Doreen with this well deserved award on March 21, 2009 at the Evergreen Centre, 5237-52 Street, Olds, Alberta at 3:00. Followed by spearker Dr. Claudia Notzke  “The Fight to Save a Memory; Wild Horse Research, Controversies and Opportunities”. A silent auction and refreshments to follow.

If you are a member of WHOAS be sure to go and support the Hendersons. In fact go and be proud as the award is dedicated to all those involved with WHOAS. And if you are not involved with WHOAS maybe this is a good time to put your support behind them? Perhaps some wild horses running in the hills could be a valuable resource? At least support treating them with dignity?
