Wild Horses Shot

Apparently while some of us were at the Mane Event trying to learn more about training and caring for horses, someone felt they couldn’t deal with some of these beautiful creatures walking on his earth and shot them.  A pregnant mare, her yearling and a young stallion. The mare was just about to give birth. He didn’t bother to kill them but left some if not all of them wounded.

I  don’t understand how anyone can be so angry with them.  So filled with hatred. They aren’t aggressive animals. When we hike out west we don’t fear being attacked by wildies. It’s not the stuff of nightmares but rather the stuff of many a child’s dreams. A beautiful wild horse slipping over a ridge is the stuff of fantasies. Not anger or fear or the need to protect oneself.

If you would like more information about this please visit the Wild Horse Site WHOAS. There are also some photos on their site.

I am a friend of the late Slim Davis, I’m 73 and knew him since I was 5 years old. Watched the wildies many times with him. We traveled many miles together and wrote lots of letters to the gov. on behalf of the wild horses. We got very close to them on our saddle horses. On Slim’s behalf I beg you who kill the wild horses to stop. We love them and would like them to live in peace for other people and their children to enjoy them. Shame on you to kill them. They fight a hard cold winter and you shoot them. Did it make you proud when you saw them fall to the ground, fighting for life, then to die there before your eyes? I’m writing this for Slim, my pal. His heart would be broken. Please watch the National Geographic Horses and see Slim in the movies. When you see him you may decide not to kill any more wild horses. I’m so sorry for anyone who could kill something so beautiful as wild horses. This letter is in memory of Slim, also Ervin Palmer, and most of all in memory of those beautiful horses and that little foal that never put its tiny hooves on Alberta soil. Again for Slim – Shame on You.

It’s too bad that we have sick and ignorant people like this that are the same speices as us. Makes me totally ashamed. To the person or persons that did this, hope you get yours in the end.. You could probably learn alot from animals. Take a long hard look in the MIRROR! hope what you see really makes you proud!!

I agree with both Mildred and Georgina! It is sad to know that people can feel no mercy into the slaying of these wonderful creatures! It fills me full of saddness for the horses and full of anger towards the person(s) responsible! How Dare you do something like this!
It truly angers me when those foolish and inconsiderate humans who don’t have a love for horses find a “thrill” in abusing and/or “hunting” horses (and other animals). Why?? and How?? can you do such a thing. They never did a thing to you and this is what you do to them!
I hope that the person(s) responsible are found and punished accordingly!!
