Wild Pink Yonder
I’m always surprised at how often I will run into folks who haven’t heard about some event that I thought everyone knew about. I ran into a neighbour who hadn’t heard of the Wild Pink Yonder Ride that is coming up in just over a week. Starts July 4th, Cochrane, Alberta.
Maybe because my sister-in-law and a friend are both newly diagnosed with breast cancer and I am getting to hear of it first hand, I would really like to help find a cure. I think that the Wild Pink Yonder Breast Cancer Ride is a really good way to help. I know it is not inexpensive but how do we get any decent amounts of money to the cause if we want to be entertained and we want it to be cheap? It looks like this is an opportunity to make a serious contribution and have some fun. Ride with friends and/or new friends, all your meals provided, an evening’s entertainment and donate to the breast cancer cause.
I thought I would check out their blog written by Jane Hurl – the trail boss and main push for this project. Whether she is just an incredibly strong woman or perhaps her personal battle with breast cancer gave her some added strength but the story of what happened to her last week seems nearly unbelievable. Especially when you read it in her own words and hear her understate her own injuries while entertaining us with news about her most recent additions to the ride. From her hospital bed.
Even if you can’t make the ride and even if you can’t donate money for the cause, be sure to read her blog. I have never met Jane in person. I really look forward to it.
And, if you think that you can come for a day or two or more or you would like to contribute in some way just email info@wildpinkyonder and I’m sure you will be welcomed with open arms. Let’s help stop this disease which is affecting all of us in one way or another. Maybe our daughters and granddaughters won’t have to live in fear of the diagnosis of breast cancer.
