Seeing wild horses would be a life time experience! Something both my daughter and I would love to see.

  2. Diane Brazzale says:

Yes I have seen wild horses in Jasper park about 20 yrs ago. My Family and I were camping in the park, the next day while driving through the park, we saw a herd of horses, I remember one of them was a beautiful black and white paint, I couldn’t believe my eyes. As we drove through the mountains, I dreamt of rounding up the herd, and taking the paint for my own. Just recently I watched a national geographic episode about wild horses in Canada’s west, I was surprised to learn that while wild horses in the US are protected, that in Canada they are not! I have to say that as a horse owner and lover of these beautiful animals that I feel ashamed for our horse community for not having done more for these helpless, beautiful equines that have been a part of Canada’s west for hundreds of years.

  3. Glenda says:

Wild horses exhibit an expression of God’s wonderous handiwork untouched by man. Beautiful!

  6. Jill says:

I have not seen a wild horse, but I understand there are a few wild horse herds in Montane regions of southwestern Alberta, around Bragg Creek and surrounding areas. A fellow graduate student of mine is actually studying wild horse populations and habitat use in southwestern Alberta.

  7. Alyssa Clermont says:

Only seen them in pictures and movies

We have purchased this calendar before. I have also seen the presence of wildies. I guess you could say they are beautifully wild but are they really healthy, fed and feet tended with.

  9. Patricia says:

Never! These are one of the greatest miracles still running free and wild… I hope they continue for many years to come.. Maybe one day I will get a chance for a glance..

Yes, I have seen mustangs running free in the wild, I have been touched by their beauty and photographed a few in the McCullough Peak Herd Management Area outside of Cody WY. I have seen wild horses running free outside of Rock Springs, WY as well as in the Pryor Mountains outside of Lovell WY.

“Mustangs have taught me more about horses and myself than anything else I have ever done…….patience, prayer, body language, understanding, not taking things personal, creative thinking, different perspectives…….if more people understood the true reward and could grasp the real meaning, no mustang would ever want for a home………”

  14. Frank says:

Heard about but have not been lucky enough to see. watch a documentary on the wild horses of alberta . it would be fantastic for my children to see these horses in their natural environment . worth protecting
man actually has two best friends horses and dogs.

  15. Pat says:

It sure would be a moment to remember. Wild animals are always a thrill to see, but wild horses are a rare sight indeed.

  16. Elsa Skender says:

Can’t say that I have…yet. It would be wonderful to study the habits and behaviors of the dwindling numbers of wild horses. I think it would benefit us as horse owners to better understand our own horses.

  17. Sherry Williams says:

Yes i have seen the wild horses although it was over 10 years ago. I would love to see them again but I don’t know the back country and will not ride there alone.

  18. shona says:

Yes i have seen 3 different herds. 1 up by Sundre, 1 out by Bragg Creek and before they rounded them up from Suffield, the 1′s out by Bragg Creek were really special because it was about 4 mares with new babies(about 2-3 weeks old).

  24. Tara says:

Yes, I am very happy to say I’ve seen wild horses, near Sundre , twice this summer!!
The first time I saw about 5 or 6 in a clearing on the way to a campsite and by the time we realized what we saw and were able to turn around, they were gone. The second time, we went looking for them on a day trip and we saw about a dozen mares and foals! We were able to stop the car and watch them slowly walk into the trees! (We even have some nice pics!)
They are so beautiful and majestic! It was a real treat to get to see them up close!

  25. Tracey says:

I have seen a herd of about 25 or so wild horses near Whistler, BC. It was 5 years ago travelling down the mountain between Whistler and Liloeutte. It was a beautiful site, driving slow & carefully down a hair pin road when this herd came thundering down the mountain side to our left and galloped across the road into the valley on the other side. I scrambled for my camera and caught a blurred photo of the last few horses of the herd as they crossed. What an experience.

  26. kenny Miller says:

no i havent seen any wild horses in my life but i always dream that one day i will have that chance to see one or two…

  27. Sandi says:

I have not personally had the privalege to observe wild horses in there own environment but my husband was lucky enough to see them. He was on excercise with the military in Dundurn, Sk. and was thrilled to have seen them.

  28. Maria says:

No, but I hope to see one some day soon!

  29. Kathie Dunn says:

Hi we have been blessed to have seen numerous wild horses in the Tunkwa Lake area just outside of Kamloops BC. I love watching them communicate with each other and it does the heart good to know that there are still wild horses out there. We have even been approached by a lone stallion figuring he could start his own herd with my 2 mares, actually after it was all said and done it was scary but exciting.
We hope that the horses continue to live in harmony with the ranchers in that area and future generations will have the same opportunity as us to see them in their natural habitat.

  30. Andrea says:

I have never seen a wild horse but hope to some day!

  31. Judy S says:

Hi there, I enjoyed reading all the different places people have seen wild horses. I’ve been very lucky to have had a few sightings of wild horses while I’ve been out riding my horse. The first time I saw wild horses was 10 years ago west of Sundre in the Panther River area by Klein Lake. Then on a few different riding occasions west of the Burnt Timber Gas Plant I’ve seen small herds of four to five wild horses. The biggest herds of wild horses I’ve seen are on three separate occasions, while I was out riding the Wild Horse Trail out of the Little Elbow Equestrian Campground. They are absolutely majestic beautiful animals. It only takes a glimpse of those beautiful animals to see or hear us humans and they take off running. It always takes my breath away to see wild horses.

  32. Tracey says:

I have been fortunate to see the wildies at Edson and at the Big Horn Dam. The stallion at the Big Horn was a beautiful blue roan. He and his band of mares were just sunning themselves along the edge of the dam site.

  33. Kim says:

No, I have never seen a wild horse. Many years ago while trail riding in the Rockies however, I did hear a disturbance nearby. Our trail guide said it was probably a wild horse.

  34. Leanne says:

    Yes in Holland!

  35. Tonya says:

No, I have never been lucky enough to see wild horses in person. Hopefully, someday I will get to see some I think that would be really neat.

  36. Sue says:

Wanted to see the ‘wildies’ and did get the chance to walk into a clearing where there were a couple of mares with foals, a band of very young males, and a stallion. Small in stature, fleshy and compact, they are quite something to see. The small herd that I saw put up with my presence from a distance for a while before they headed into the bush. West of Sundre, there are hundreds of wildies!

  37. Jackie HIltz says:

I have never seen a wild horse close up. I took a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon and the pilot said there were wild horses on the ground but we didn’t see any. Not sure what they would have had to eat! Would be great to see wild horses!

  38. Kris says:

I’ve had the great opportunity to see wild horses in their elements and its like nothing you can imagine. If theres no horses in Heaven then I ain’t going!

  39. Miranda CArdinal says:

I saw some wild horses by sundre a few years ago. One of them had a really crooked face – It was a stallion; he was a really dark bay with a stripe and two socks on the hind. He was with 6 other horses – probably his mares.

  40. Mel says:

No I havn’t had that wonderfull experience yet but do hope to some day . Horses are awesome majestic creatures , of which we have several but the ones in the wild are even more so , at least in our imagination they are because they are “untamed” and that speaks to our psyche and perhaps our hidden inner man would like to be like that too ,able to run free and not be bound by time and toil.

  41. MaryAnn says:

No I have not, but would love the opportunity to see these majestic creatures.

  42. MaryAnn says:

I envy those that have had this rare privilege of observing the mustang herd in it’s natural habitat.

  43. Wendy A says:

No, I have never seen a wild horse, only documentaries on TV, I’m sure they would be beautiful to watch. I would really enjoy the calendar, maybe I might be lucky.

  44. Hiedi Richardson says:

Yes, a couple of years ago in the hills past Waiprous I was lucky enough to see a stallion along with his mare and a foal. It was a real thrill!

  45. Shelley says:

No, I haven’t ever had the pleasure!

  46. Robb says:

Hello , yes I had the oppurtunity to see a small herd Just south of Nordegg this past summer. My son and I saw this herd again in Sept when we skipped school and drove down the forrestry trunk road to do a little fishing. They look very wild and free .

  47. Vicki says:

Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to see horses in the wild. I can only imagine the grace, intellegence and beauty that they must exhibit. One day I will take they time to seek out these glorious animals and enjoy every minute of their beauty in nature.
