We are pleased to welcome the following clinicians to this year’s expo:
Jan Ebeling - Dressage:
In 1984, Jan Ebeling moved from Germany to the USA to work alongside Olympian Robert Dover while Dover was preparing for the ’84 Olympics. Jan has been a major force since the USET Intermediaire I Championship in 1998, when he began riding as a US citizen. That year Jan finished as Reserve Champion at the Intermediaire I Championship held in NJ as part of the Bayer/USET Festival of Champions. In 2000, Jan found his way back to the winner’s circle in NJ, where he topped the field of the nation’s top Intermediaire I horse-and-rider combinations to win the Intermediaire I Championship. In 2002, he earned Reserve Championship honors, No stranger to the winner’s circle at the Intermediaire I Championship, Jan achieved success again in 2003 at the Festival where he posted 3rd & 4th place finishes. Jan’s 2003 finishes earned him the right to represent the US at the 2003 Pan Am Games in the Dominican Republic. While there he was the highest ranking US rider and clinched the Gold medal for the US team and he finished 5th overall individually. In 2006, competing again at Gladstone for the Intermediare Championships, Jan and the mare Rafalca achieved third place. In 2007, Jan and Rafalca made their debut in the Grand Prix arena during the World Cup in Las Vegas where they demonstrated the Grand Prix test before a full house before actual competition began. In the fall of 2007, Jan was awarded a USET training grant and made the decision to return to Germany taking three horses. Subsequent competition success proved the wisdom of the decision to make the trip. 2008 was a building year for Jan and the horses, culminating in Jan’s decision to try to qualify for the next World Cup, again in Las Vegas. In 2009, Ebeling and Rafalca returned to Las Vegas for World Cup, this time representing the U.S. along with the two other horse-rider partnerships that qualified.

Jerry Tindell – Horsemanship & Mulemanship:
Jerry Tindell’s childhood links him to a time when mules and horses were a vital part of the American story. The 8th child of a Missouri timber man, Jerry grew up watching his father work with both draft horses and mules to support the family by skidding logs. That connection shaped his life, and he has followed his love and respect for animals to build a successful career which now focuses on training both equines and humans. Currently his schedule is filled with clinics both at his ranch facility in Oak Hills, CA, and at many locations on the road. A regular at Bishop Mule Days and Back Country Horsemen events, his clinics focus on learning to support the animal in making the right choices. Jerry’s methods open a window into a logical, humane, and effective method of increasing the communication between riders and their mounts.
Nick Karazissis – Hunter Jumper:
Nick Karazissis is one of the top trainer’s, teachers, clinicians and judges in the country. He and his family own and run Far West Farms in Calabasas, CA which is considered one of the cornerstones of the West Coast Industry. Nick’s clinics and lectures will not only improve your understanding of the Hunter Jumper discipline but guarantee to improve your connection and understanding of how a rider and horse need to connect. Nick helped write and produce the “Get Connected” DVD which are being used as the standard for Hunter Seat Equitation flatwork in all USEF judges clinics. In 1992, he was elected CPHA Horseman of the Year. When Nick is not showing, judging or giving clinics, he is involved with all the major horse governing bodies on the West Coast in addition to serving as elected member on the American Horse Show Association (AHSA) Zone 10 committee. He has also been President of the California Professional Horseman’s Association and on the Board of the Los Angeles Horse Show Association and the Pacific Coast Horse Show Association.
Curt Pate – Ranch Horse Horsemanship:
For more than 10 years Curt has conducted demonstrations and clinics on stockmanship, starting colts, horsemanship and safety across multiple countries. His abilities starting colts and conducting stockmanship demonstrations along with his unique ability to communicate make him one of the most sought after clinicians. His instruction in effective stockmanship supports a “for profit” mindset as he understands the increased economic benefits of handling stock correctly. Just as important is his understanding of the impact of improved handling to sustainability of the industry as livestock production comes under more and more scrutiny. Curt brings great value to the livestock industry with his ability to think outside the box and his ability to challenge others to do the same. A willingness to share his skills has set him apart in conducting stockmanship and horsemanship clinics. Curt’s experiences in ranching add credibility and enable him to communicate his methods effectively. Along with horse and stockmanship presentations and managing his own ranch operation, Curt was chosen by The American Quarter Horse Association to serve as an AQHA Professional Horsemen as well as their Regional Experience Clinician.
Tammy Pate – Horsemanship & Rider Fitness:
Tammy Pate was literally raised on horseback. Born into a ranching family in Montana, her father was a rodeo steer wrestler who spent his free time teaching young Tammy and her sisters all he knew about horsemanship and riding. Her grandmother, Betty, instilled in her the deep values of the ranching life: a reverence for nature and the practical skills ranching families needed for the demands of their rural life. She married her husband, Curt Pate, who was then a rodeo announcer, and followed him into the demanding life of managing a cow camp. Together they developed innovative, gentle ways of training horses and managing livestock. During this time, she raised her own children, literally, in the saddle, carrying them with her on horseback to work with Curt on the ranch. These rich experiences, along with a growing interest in the benefits of Yoga on the equestrian body, have led Tammy to share horsemanship knowledge. Tammy’s clinics are designed to bring awareness of mental and physical balance, and above all, improve your horsemanship and bring about the inner balance that improves your ability to bond with and communicate with horses.

In addition, he is a licensed judge with the National Horse Show Commission and has conducted a judging seminar in Germany for the European members of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association. Bobby started show ring competition when he was 6 yrs. of age. All through his younger years he rode and showed halter horses under the guidance of his father Bob Richards Sr. Upon entering college, Bobby continued pursuing greater knowledge with horses. After college, Bobby started his horse training career as well as starting his family with his wife of 18 years, Stacey. Bobby has earned numerous world titles in the show ring and has also attained his AAA horse judging license. When the weather and the show circuit allow, Bobby, his wife, and 2 sons love to load up and go trail riding. In 2000, he built his own training facility where he works with horses and trains “PEOPLE” (a psychology degree would have been helpful in this aspect of training). Bobby has conducted training and judging clinics as TWHBEA’s clinician all over the U.S., in various parts of CANADA and throughout Germany. His clinics cover all details involved with gaited horses: bitting, shoeing, riding for the first time, cantering and also gait recognition from a judges point of view.
Jonathan Field – Horsemanship:
Jonathan’s love of horses began early, and he can’t remember when they weren’t part of his life. His earliest memories are of competing in horse shows, both English and Western. as a young man he cowboyed for the Quilchena Cattle Company. Jonathan has been privileged to study under some great horsemen, including Ronnie Willis, Ray Hunt and World Reining Champion, Craig Johnson. His greatest mentor, however, is Pat Parelli. It was Pat who impressed upon Jonathan the fundamental truth about horsemanship: the dignity of the horse must always come first. A natural presenter, Jonathan has honed his skills as a clinician. Presented with the 2005 Horse Council of BC’s New Innovative Business/Service Award, Jonathan has proven himself a gifted teacher.
Robyn Hood – TTEAM/TTouch:

Ruben Villasenor – Western Dressage & Using/Fitting a Bosal:
Ruben Villasenor creator of Horsemen’s Western Dressage has been working with horses for over 20 years. His methods for working with horses have developed over the course of a lifetime of interacting with them. As a boy Ruben quickly learned that the way to a horses mind and heart were with time and patience, and dedication and consistency were going to earn you trust and respect. Ruben’s deep appreciation for the equine animal is evident in his gentle and effective methods. His favorite saying is “Let the horse do it because it can, not because he is being forced to.” He also says “In training I teach horses to be aware of their whole body, then I use that awareness to create movements that are inspiring and beautiful to watch. A horse that is aware of his body and his capabilities is willing to work because HE CAN.” Ruben uses the bosal or hackamore to train horses. This method has been passed down from generation to generation. It is a simple and effective tool when used properly.
The very popular Trainers Challenge will feature:
Brent Trout – Alberta
Ken McNabb – Wyoming
Tom Forehand – Colorado
