Three-time stakes winner Platinum N Pearls in the Bank of America Evergreen Park Championship Challenge and fastest-qualifier Howdoyalikemesofar in the John Deere Evergreen Park Juvenile Challenge highlight Saturday’s card in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

The winners of those Bank of America Challenge stakes qualify for their respective races in the Bank of America Challenge Championships at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans on November 19.

Mark Cassel’s 4-year-old filly Platinum N Pearls (Lock To Load-Hailey Rules by Gold Ruler (TB)) has won her latest two starts and seven of her last eight, all in Canada.

Two starts ago, the Laurie Ferguson-trained Platinum N Pearls won the John Deere AQHA Classic in track-record time and then easily won her trial to the Bank of America Evergreen Park Championship Challenge. She won by a length and her time of :21.610 for 440 yards topped the qualifiers determined from two trials.

Roger Gauthier’s Red Come Runnin (First Wrangler-Red Hot N Leavin by Leaving Memories) rallied to win the other trial by a head. The Stan Webb-trained gelding recorded the fourth-fastest qualifying time of :21.840.

The runner-up in the 2009 Alberta-Bred Derby (RG3), Red Come Runnin has three wins and two seconds from nine career starts.

Reid McLaughlin’s Howdoyalikemesofar (Oak Tree Special-Shesa Sovereign Dash by Royal Sovereign) paces the finalists in the John Deere Evergreen Park Juvenile Challenge after winning his second straight race in the trials. He drew out to win by more than a length as the even-money favorite; his time of :17.790 for 350 yards was the quickest clocking from the two trials.

Howdoyalikemesofar was winless in his first two starts for trainer Angelle Carter before rebounding and taking his latest two. He broke his maiden in a 300-yard allowance race on July 17 by a neck.

Jim Plume’s Funny Face Nemo (Finding Nemo-Wash And Wear by Bold Ego (TB)) should be dangerous in the John Deere Evergreen Park Juvenile Challenge after winning the other trial and finishing a close second in his only other start. The John Harris-trained gelding won his trial in :18.070 for the third-fastest qualifying time.
