New Years Eve

Dec 31, 2011 No Comments by

I’ve spent all day wondering why I so want to get everything organized and cleaned up. Really it is just another day. A beautiful day like most of December 2011 has been but I can’t shake the feeling that tomorrow is the beginning of something new. More so than any other days.

2011 was a very good year for us. Lots of our clients are telling us they feel their horse businesses are stronger than they have been in a long time and crediting their websites and promotion on Northernhorse for a good deal of their success.  The Northernhorse Classified section has been tremendously busy – in fact there have been a couple of horses sell this week – one of them ours. I can remember when there wasn’t anyone shopping for horses at this time of the year. In fact hardly any horses would change hands all winter long. Spring was the time that most people bought and sold horses.

Now it is easy to fire up your computer, iPad, tablet or smart phone and check out what new horses are being offered for sale. I see we already have 6 horse sales listed for 2012.

So what are your plans for this year? Are you going to breed some mares? Have you cut your horse number down? Are you increasing your band?

It is the start of a new year… a new chance to make some of these horse dreams we all have come true.

We wish every one a very happy and prosperous New Year. Love and Health and Happiness. And lots of chances to lay your eyes on the beauty of the horse and to smell that smell  in your nostrils that only means horses and to feel their beautiful soft coats and to hear them sneeze and snort and whinny.  We who get those pleasures regularly are truly blessed.

Thank you everyone for your support of Northernhorse. From Dave & Lynn & Mark & Jaime & Scott & Louise & Laurie.

I have been horse crazy all my life. And I have always loved to spend lots of time outside. By the time I got a horse at 13 I already had a roan cow (who did her best to pretend she was a horse) that I could ride at the walk, trot and canter and I was starting to try to teach her to jump. But the day that Lightning and her filly Echo moved into our yard riding the roan cow ended. Lightning bucked me off and hospitalized my mother before she went to Snowden Daine's Auction Mart and Echo showed me the freedom that riding a horse can provide. Although we never had any lessons or even parents setting many limits (or perhaps because of this) we soon were galloping bareback up and down the coulees and learning to love our magnificent steeds. Together with my husband David I have raised a few baby horses every year for 30 years now. I have showed a wee bit and trail rode a wee bit and for the wonderful years we have had here on the Moose Creek using our horses to ride pastures and check cows I will always be grateful. It was the perfect place to raise our family. I am not any kind of horse expert but I am pretty certain that lots of people know me as a horse lady. So I chose Horse Lady for my blog name. I ride, raise a couple of babies every year, love my webwork, love my life. As my current favorite saddle horse Buzz and I were trying to warm up with a lively gallop across the pastures yesterday morning I couldn't help but feel sorry for anyone who never got to feel the thrill of having those 4 powerful legs and that big heart and lungs to call their own for a few moments. Did I mention that with the birth of every foal I secretly hope for a Pegasus? The crazy horse lady?
