Grower Horse Ration is part of the “ON THE BIT” line of equine rations and is designed to be fed to yearlings and two year olds in light training. These horses are still growing and require a higher protein content to assist that growth.
Energy and minerals are balanced in the 16%
Grower Horse Ration to reduce the potential risk of
developmental orthopaedic disease or DOD.
The quantity of the
protein is just as important as the quality of the
protein. Essential amino acids like lysine, methionine and trytophan are
balanced in this yearling ration. Yearlings and two year
olds are just beginning to live up to their genetic potential but proper and
balanced nutrition will ensure the animal can fulfil his physical
potential.
How much should I feed?
An 800 poiund yearling should receive 2 lbs -10 lbs/day depending on the amount of exercise split in two separate feedings per day. If the training level increases, the amount fed should be adjusted accordingly. All horses should be fed dust-free good quality hay or pasture.
The quality of the forage, level and growth rate and the condition of the foal will determine the actual feeding level. It is important to keep the foal on a consistent daily feeding plan. Always allow free choice access to clean water, salt and an excellent quality equine mineral such as the Endurance Equine Premix.
Country Junction produces a number of different choices in Equine nutrition. The age of the horse, the activity level and your own needs can all affect what you feed your horses.
