GJR - CATTLE WORK – WEB PAGE
Glory J Ranch (GJR) runs a herd of 50 plus cattle for arena cattle work. Depending on the weather two evenings a week are booked for cattle events. The events are open to GJR boarders and trailer in riders.
Cattle work is depends on the weather. The guideline used by GJR is; when the temperature is -15 at noon and declining cattle work will be canceled for that day. GJR will make the decision at noon and will post it on this website. If the weather is questionable please check the weather posting below.
Two Man Cattle Sorting
Two Man Sorting at GJR runs every Wednesday night starting at 7:00 pm. It is a fun competitive format. Each team is given four goes, and any rider can ride on as many teams at they like. Prizes are provided by GJR based on a variety of fun competition formats.
“One on One”
“One on One” goes every Monday evening starting at 7:00 pm. It is a training and practice format. One cow is brought into the arena at a time and each rider can use his or her turn to practice and train their horse on any component of cow work they desire. Generally, the riders will have two opportunities to work their horse, however, the objective is to complete a successful training session, therefore, GJR will insure that sufficient cattle are provided to have a quality workout.
For the “die hard” riders GJR will operate the mechanical cow on days where cattle are not available. Please call ahead.
