rare Bay Silver AQHA breeding...
Chinky Silver

Welcome to our new website. We are delighted to showcase rare Bay Silver (Silver Dapple) genetics! For years we have noticed some of our foals showing very striking color with their dark bodies and flaxen / silver manes and tails.  As a result of someone contacting us saying they recognized a silver dapple coloring in Bar U Champ Binder, a hair sample was submitted to UC Davis in late 2004 to confirm colour genetics.  Confirmation of the Bay Silver (Z) gene was then sent to AQHA, who contacted us asking to change Champ's official registration.

Our senior stallion, Bar U Champ Binder  was the first 'silver' confirmed and recognized by AQHA.  On January 27, 2005, his colour was officially changed from 'chestnut' to 'bay' with a notation on the registration that he carries and expresses the silver gene.  We are sad to announce that Champ was euthanized April 21, 2009. We will miss his awesome personality - there is a huge "empty" in his paddock and in our hearts!

We are now raising a replacement stallion - a grandson of Bar U Champ Binder that also carries the Bay Silver gene.  Chinky Silver is already proving to have the conformation and personality we expect. He will see limited use in 2010.
