......I
have been told many times over my years breeding
horses, that I am "ahead of my time".
I was told this over 35 years ago , when I started
breeding a huge son of Double Bid to the old
typey bulldog quarter mares to add a new dimension,
look, and way of moving. A decade ago, I was
told that again, when the type of Quarter horse
I was raising was found interesting to dressage
people, and when these horses were put into
that sport, it was proven that these quarter
horses did indeed, have the mind and movement
to compete well in the sport.
It is with great delight and enthusiasm, that
I am again going to move forward, and try to
develop a line of "Sport Horses" using
one of the oldest breed of horses in Europe,
(Akhal-Teke) for my paternal line, crossed with
one of the oldest North American breeds, the
Quarter Horse for the maternal side. I have
a good broodmare band developed from exceptional
blood noted for their balance, versatility,
trainability, and exceptionally good minds.
The bloodlines that almost all of my mares carry,
was developed by a master breeder (Hank Wiescamp),
who was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame
for breeding exceptional horses of consistent
conformation, for over 60 years. The paternal
side offers grace, athleticism, astounding movement,
and as a bonus, a color that is known for its
"metallic" appearance, particularly
in the golden tones. "Heavenly Horses"
they are known as, for over 3000 years.
It
was certainly some divine intervention, when
Jolaine Cowherd, a very well known and respected
breeder, (around the world) of this very old
line of horses, approached me, and offered me,
her fine Metallic Gold Bay, Russian stallion,
KOLDUNE! I will be selecting a fine group of
mares for the court of Koldune, and with Gods
grace and will, my resulting product will be
of great value to the equestrian world. I hope
decades from now, Jolaine and I will be remembered
as the pioneers of a whole new line of sport
horses, talented, and prize winning in both
the hunter and dressage arenas! Because of the
depth and history of both breeds, I feel the
product will be typey, correct, balanced, and
most of all - conformationally consistent. The
minds of this line will be such, that youth,
amateurs, and just kids of all ages , will find
them kind and trainable companions.
I am anxiously awaiting the spring of 2009,
when the first foal crop arrives, and the new
prototype is unveiled!!
