About our Cattle operation
We have been involved in the commercial cattle industry for over 20 years. Working with different breeds over the years has given us some insight as to what we need to produce to succeed in todays marketplace. We found that utilizing Simmental genetics produced calves that grow quickly with added performance, enhancing our bottom line in the fall. The Simmental cross females were always our best producers. Our goal has been and continues to be to grow and raise profitable cattle. This led to our introduction and interest in Purebred genetics. Downsizing our commercial operation, we have developed a Purebred program with approximately 55 females. We have been striving ever since to build a strong, functional set of females with a focus on red factor genetics. The traits we selected for with our commercial herd have carried over to our purebred herd. Balanced animal traits, functional breeding stock and temperments still top our list. The bottom line is they have to produce and there are no exceptions. We cull hard every year. With red factor herd bulls, select AI sires and embryo transfer our goal is to produce top quality genetics for the commercial and purebred breeders. We believe the growth, disposition, milking ability and marketability of Simmental genetics will meet and exceed the industry demand as our cattle markets rebuild. It is a challenging time for our cattle industry, but we believe Simmental cattle are there for the long haul. |
