TRAINING

Training of outside horses is available, from starting two year olds, to finishing the older horse, and specialized training including team roping, steer wrestling and barrel racing.
Cost is $800 per month.

Training is focused on producing a trusting and willing relationship between the horse and rider.
 

LESSONS

Riding lessons available from a Level I Canadian Equestrian Federation Certified Coach.  Lesson horse available ($40 per hour), or bring your own ($30 per hour).
 

SALES

We always have a varied selection of Quarter Horse, Paint or grade horses for sale.  This includes sucking colts, yearlings, started and unstarted two-year-olds, three-year-olds, and mature horses started in arena events such as roping, barrels or steer wrestling.

STANDING AT STUD

Sonoitas Playgun - 2006 Gray AQHA Stallion 14.3 hh, 1100 lbs "Gun" has a beautiful conformation, along with a gentle, kind disposition. He has a big black foot, straight legs that are set underneath him, a huge hip, strong back, big girth, clean throat latch and lots of muscle. We have been riding Gun and found him to have lots of athletic ability to stop, turn and watch a cow. He also seems to have some run. I bought him on these qualities, but also some of the big ranches in the States have been using Playgun horses in their remudas and really liking them, for example the Haythorn Ranch. Gun's father has $17587 in NCHA earnings. We are hoping Gun will leave us sound, good dispositioned babies that will make good ranch horses, team roping horses, and calf roping horses. Keep an eye out for his babies in future Ranch Country Horse Sales.

Hesa Texan Royal - 1997 red dun AQHAstallion - 15.1 hh, grandson of Royal King. Hesa Texan Royal, is a solid, correct built horse that we feel will benefit our breeding program.  The "Legends Book" states that 'Royal King' was renowned for his gentle disposition, shown for many years in cutting, and sired many champion offspring. That's what we people in the ranch industry need - gentle disposition and athletic cow ability.  His foals show correctness, size, and color. We are now riding Texan's colts and they are handy, athletic and nice minded.

Chex My Magic - 1996 bay AQHA stallion - An outstanding addition to our breeding program, "Magic" is a cowhorse who works as good as he looks. Standing 15.2 hh, "Magic" is well muscled and moves easily and effortlessly off his hind end. His good conformation is complimented by a beautiful head and neck, not to mention a kind disposition. Magic's resume includes such accomplishments as the 2000 Alberta Reined Cowhorse Assoc. Open Hackamore Working Cow Horse Champion, 2000 Canadian Supreme Open Working Cow Horse Champion, 2001 Alberta Reined Cow Horse Assoc.Open Working Cow Horse Champion, 2001 Canadian Supreme Working Cow Horse Champion, 2001 Calgary Stampede Working Cow Horse Reserve Champion, and the 2001 Canada's Greatest Cow Horse Reserve Champion.
