I thought I would share a little adventure that has little do with the wild horses that I love. On Sunday I had gone out into horse country to try to take pictures of a cougar, around a fresh kill I had found the afternoon before. It was -26 when I left home well before light and I arrived near the site about 45 minutes before dawn. I left my vehicle and walked up the road until I was at the site I had marked to set up my camera blind at. Dressed extremely warm, camera at the ready I waited. Just after light the first of three hunters vehicle drove by oblivious to the blind. After that I knew there was very little chance that the cougar would appear. I walked over and found that the big cat had come back to his kill and fed on most of it during the night.
Not to let the day go to waste I spent a few hours touring around taking more pictures of the horses I found. Then I headed home to get warm and finally do the housekeeping and laundry, I had neglected. That evening I sat thinking about the cougar and the chances I had missed photographing it close up. I heard a racket in the kitchen, and the growling of my fat cat, Kimba. Then here he comes, jumps up on me and drops a dead mouse on my lap. He then looked up at me as if to say, if you want a picture of a great feline hunter take mine. I had to just laugh at his antics as he would look at his great kill and then at me. It felt good to laugh and know that all of creators creature do bring a joy to my heart.
