The first annual Northern Lights Breeders Group Sale was held on October 5, 2019 at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds. The cool fall weather and brisk wind did not deter the many potential customers from watching the sale preview.

There was a very good demand for broke horses once the bidding started and when the smoke cleared it was Lot 14 who was the high seller of the sale. This 10 year old ranch/rope gelding consigned by the Anderson’s at Four Bar X Ranch commanded a final bid of $10,800 and was purchased by William Hamilton of Nanton, Alberta.

The reserve high seller of the day was Lot #45, the beautiful reining mare consigned by Sarah Skoreyko and purchased by Lindsay Sagon of Biggar, Saskatchewan. The top five broke horses averaged $8450 with the overall average on 20 broke horses being $4950.

The high selling weanling of the day was Blue Boon Smoke, APHA blue roan stallion consigned by Flying S Ranch, sired by their stallion Blue Boon Dunnit and was purchased by Haywire Ranch of Vermilion, AB for $2000.

Lot number 26 Smartest Silver Lumi AQHA bay roan gelding was the high selling yearling. This ranch gelding prospect was consigned by Nolin Quarter Horses and purchased by Leif and Camille Johnson of Turtleford, Saskatchewan for $1700.

This was a very well attended sale with 300+ people in the stands and close to 150 registered bidders from all three of the prairie provinces. There proved to be a horse for many different disciplines on offer from ranch, rodeo, reining, roping, pleasure as well as some top performance prospects.

The Northern Lights Breeders Group would like to thank all of the buyers, bidders, attendees and sales staff that helped make their first annual sale a huge success!!!
