MONTOYA HAS BEEN SOLD TO HER FOREVER HOME WITH TIFFANNY AND GEORGE and their family.  We wish you all the success with Montoya.  Thank you so much.

Special thanks to agent Claudette of Gasda Performance Horses!

We purchased Montoya at the Western Horse Sale in Red Deer, October 2002.  She was originally purchased only  broodmare sound due to an injury.  Lucky for us her injury was fairly minor and she can easily tolerate non-competitive riding.

Montoya is a compact mare, standing 14.2 HH.  She has a stunning head with a soft eye.  She has good bone, good withers and loads of talent.  She also posses beautiful markings and a dorsal stripe.

This mare has an excellent disposition and remembers everything.  She can be ridden once a year and is just like you rode her yesterday.  Montoya is extremely well broke in all aspects of reining.  She is a real pleasure to be around and has really turned into an all round family horse.  She has been used by our young children, along with all of their friends and she really takes care of her rider.

Due to the fact that she has been such a valuable asset to our childrens growth and development as riders we have primarily used her for riding therefore have only raised 4 foals out of her.  Her foals are extremely athletic and have good dispositions with a willingness to learn.  All her foals have been conformationally correct with good withers and a nice sloping hip.  They have all had natural low toplines and are easy to work with.

We have made the difficult decision to offer Montoya for sale due to the fact that we are keeping a daughter of hers for the future broodmare band.  Montoya is a great mare to own for both riding and breeding.  However, she is recovering from a stifle injury at this time so is being sold as broodmare sound only at this time.  She is making tons of progress and you can hardly tell at a walk and trot she has an injury and is getting better all the time at a lope.  When we had her checked by the vet felt she would make a full recovering in time and this is proving to be factual.  She is not on any medications or receiving any special treatments.  Vet checks are welcome.  Please call or email if you have any further questions.

Dental work was done on Thursday October 21/10.

Montoya sells open at this time but sells with the option of a breeding to Kings Nu Jewel in the spring of 2011.  Kings Nu Jewel is a son of CHEX NU JEWEL (by Nu Chex To Cash and The Royal Jewels) and HC BLUE EYED BELL (by KING OF FOUR MAC and TROUBLED TWO EYES).  Chex Nu Jewel  is a proven sire and more information can be viewed at McBrides Quarter Horses, his dam HC Blue Eyed Bell was previously used as a show mare by Hilldale ranch and was shown by a youth and has AQHA Points.

Please see Kings Nu Jewel on our website under Stallions/Geldings for more detailed information on him and his pedigree. (I will update pictures in the spring).

Thank you for you interest.

Serious inquiries only please on this mare as it has been a difficult decision.  May consider a trade on this mare for a reining breed mare that is broke to ride.

Please contact for pricing.
