Meet Sun of Texas, a stunning AQHA stallion built to impress — inside and out.

Height: 14.2

With a pedigree that’s built by legends and trusted by generations, Texas brings the best of versatility, presence, temperament, and athleticism.
He is sired by CE Poco Cara Blanca, who is a grand son to Poco Bueno and has Wimpy P-1 on the face of his papers, and out of Sun N Roses, who is a daughter of Mr. Sun O Lena, by Doc O’Lena.

Texas is gentle, smart, and a fast learner. Whether you’re looking to build a breeding program to produce ranch, rodeo and performance prospects, or just add quality genetics to your herd, this stallion is the total package.

Texas has been started and ridden in the past, though is not currently being listed as riding sound. He is sound out in the pasture and good for breeding, no issues there. He has something off in his hind end that shows up with a lot of movement. It may improve with some body work or a vet assessment.
He has had extensive ground work since weaning and has been well maintained as a stallion.
Stands for farrier
Ponies by quad
Has been rode in past but it has been awhile. I jumped on him this spring bareback in a halter in the field with no issues. Yields his hind quarters and forequarters, stops and backs off of seat, yields laterally.
Yields to pressure on the ground, moves all body parts and yields laterally
Works at liberty
Stands for bathing and spray
Attended The Horse Expo 2025 in the Breeders Alley
Has only ever hand bred. Requires a firm hand, knows the job.

Siring versatile offspring with grit, heart and the ability to withstand.
His offspring have proven to have a trainable mind and overall quiet demeanor with enough fire to handle a days work.

Texas is an outstanding example of what a Quarter Horse was bred to be; versatile, strong, balanced, smart and athletic.
Because of meticulous selection and management throughout his pedigree, Texas has the time-tested, tried and true genetic positives that can be used to strengthen some of the genetic weaknesses of today’s horses, which some have been bred too discipline specific, with the sacrifice of overall strength and disposition.

Serious inquiries only – in pictures

We would love for him to go to the right breeding program to continue to get his genetics out there and create more versatile offspring with a great mind like he has. Texas is a valuable horse that will be an asset to the right program.
