THE COPPERHEAD’S PENNY — Spanish Mustang mare (~15.1 hh)

Penny is a sturdy, versatile, strawberry roan Spanish Mustang with great bone and feet, and a powerful hind end. She’s calm, reliable, and a true “go-anywhere Gem” type of horse.

She has sturdy, uphill confirmation. Her feet and legs are excellent with good sole depth and big, healthy frogs.

She’s brave on the trail, happy to ride alone or in a group, and has proven mountain miles. She spent a month in Jasper National Park packing and riding. She leads or follows, trailers well, hobbles well, and has seen wildlife from elk to grizzlies without fuss. She knows how to survive out in the elements.

Penny has lots of riding, follows leg and seat, goes along nicely on a loose rein, and has been ridden bareback in a halter. She can carry a pack saddle. She is well suited for a rider with intermediate to advanced skills, who appreciates an independent, smart mare.

She’s fun in camp, she can stand tied quietly and hobbles calmly. She is a bit of a card and will eat anything you pass her like sunflower seeds, trail mix, and chips! She has a fun sense of humour.

She’s bold, curious, and loves attention. She is sensible out and has experience with mountain trails, water, vehicles, town streets, climbing stairs and obstacles. She will go anywhere without a fuss.

She does not worry about having a rope thrown off her and is comfortable around cattle. She would be a great fit for many disciplines: working equitation, obstacles, cattle, or ranch work.
