rare Bay Silver AQHA breeding...

Welcome to Heartland Quarter Horses!  Proudly presenting our breeding program aimed at outstanding performance and conformation.

We are delighted to showcase rare Bay Silver (Silver Dapple) genetics! For years we noticed some of our foals showing very striking color with their dark bay bodies and flaxen / silver manes and tails.  We were contacted by a horse-colour enthusiast from U.S.A., saying they recognized the silver dapple characteristics in Bar U Champ Binder, which had never before been recorded in a Quarter Horse.  A hair sample was submitted to UC Davis in late 2004 for DNA confirmation of colour genetics.  Confirmation of the Bay Silver (Z) gene was then sent to AQHA, who contacted us asking to change Champ's official registration.  On January 27, 2005, his colour was officially changed from 'chestnut' to 'bay' with a notation on the registration that he carried and expressed the elusive silver gene. Bar U Champ Binder (1981 - 2009) was the first 'silver' confirmed and recognized by AQHA, and today most AQHA horses with Bay Silver (Silver Dapple) colouring are decendants of Bar U Champ Binder.

Our bay silver stallion, Chinky Silver (a grandson of Bar U Champ Binder), and all of the broodmares in our program, have tested Negative for all in a 5-panel genetic disorders test. We have superior quality frozen semen available to North America. Special consideration by reduced breeding fees will be given to proven, 5-Panel Negative mares. We no longer offer cooled semen.

We truly appreciate the confidence our buyers have in Heartland's program, especially when they "pre-order" our foals! If you see anything you like please contact us. Some of our mares may be purchased with foals at side and bred back to Chinky Silver.
