Rugged Lark placed 4th at the World in Sr Reining in 1988, just behind Solanos Peppy San, that same year he won the World in Sr. Hunter Under Saddle.

I was not a big fan of Rugged Lark based on pictures I had seen of him, seemed to thoroughbred looking to me, but I watched a VHS tape of Americas horse that featured him and I was impressed and decided I had to have one. Sold most everything I owned at the time and bought one. 

I believe Rugged Lark was only bred live cover for most of his life so he was never bred to very many mares any given year and they were usually split between western and English mares . So he never had the great numbers of foals to dominate any one event but he still managed to have an impressive record as a sire.
